We started thinking about this project on March 2007 after myself and two of my Master’s colleagues noticed we had three different profiles we could combine and build a GIS company… This way GEOAIM gave birth.
A BA Biologist, a BA Environmentalist and a BA Geographer, three GIS and Remote Sensing Master’s degrees (MSc) a Multimedia designer, contacts and lots of hope…
We first developed a GEOTOOL to geolocalize those cranes used to clean high buildings (‘pérgolas’ in spanish), we served them inside a map and show them to everybody that could be interested in that…
We had a bunch of visits in less than one month!!!. Uau!.
From all over the world!!. Well, from Europe and the USA mainly 🙂
We were awarded with a sponsorship of 30.000 € by the Basque Government (as one of us was a basque citizen) but we couldnt barely take advantage of it… We split (!) as a result of a personal crisis of one of the members of the company… SHAME!!!… But anyway, it was definitely worth it…
Two of us keep on being friends and there is no place for personal crisis (we are still very young!!!, hahaha) and we could likely start a new project in the future or simply keep on being friends and keeping on sharing a few beers while we watch a rugby game or whatever…
This is the (short) story of a small company that never saw the light but was definitely very interesting as a life experience!… Hey mates, GIS is not just professional stuff, sometimes it’s part of LIFE.
